2. Unsung Presidents: Impact and Legacy

8th grade Social Studies teacher -The teacher wanted a PBL plan for upcoming President's Day

Project Summary: Students delve into the life and legacy of a lesser-known U.S. president, researching their key decisions and impact. They design a museum exhibit to showcase their findings, analyzing the president's motivations and the consequences of their actions. Through this project, students explore the concept of presidential greatness and learn to communicate historical narratives effectively. They present their exhibit designs, justifying their choices and demonstrating their understanding of the president's influence.

3. Winging It: Airplane Wing Design

For a High school Aviation educator focusing on Lift & Drag

Project Summary: This project challenges students to design, build, and test airplane wings to maximize lift and minimize drag. Through hands-on experimentation and analysis, students explore the relationship between wing shape, air pressure, and flight performance. They apply scientific principles, such as Bernoulli's principle and Newton's laws of motion, to refine their designs and optimize aerodynamic efficiency. 4. Equity Enterprise: Fighting Inequality

For a High School Civics educator teaching Social Inequality

For a College And Career Readiness trainer who wanted to teach principles of Teamwork for Grade 8

7. Zip-line Geometry: Trig Ratios in Design

A PBL Recipe for a 10th grade math teacher for Trigonometry

Project Summary: Students design a safe and exhilarating zipline course by applying trigonometric ratios to calculate cable lengths, angles, and select appropriate materials. They build scale models and analyze potential risks and construction challenges. This project-based learning experience culminates in a formal design proposal incorporating calculations, diagrams, and risk mitigation strategies. A 2nd grade Math teacher teaching Place value

Project Summary: Second graders explore place value through a project-based learning experience culminating in a rap song. Students engage in activities involving vocabulary exploration, building numbers with base-ten blocks, comparing and ordering numbers, and finally, collaborating to create and perform an original rap song explaining place value concepts. This project aims to deepen their understanding of how a digit's position affects its value and its importance in everyday life.
